Why HowCommerce Exists
Commerce has never moved faster than it does today.
New platforms, AI tools, sales channels, marketplaces, and customer expectations are constantly changing how businesses operate.
Yet despite all this innovation, many companies still struggle with the same problems: overly complex systems, poor user experiences, technical debt, and software that becomes difficult to maintain as the business grows.
After more than two decades working in ecommerce, I noticed a pattern.
The businesses that succeed long term are rarely the ones using the most tools or following the latest trends. They are the ones that build solid foundations, make better decisions, and focus on creating a better experience for their customers.
That's why I created HowCommerce.
The goal is simple: share practical knowledge, real-world experience, and honest insights from working in ecommerce for more than 21 years.
No hype. No recycled advice. No theory disconnected from reality.
Just lessons learned from building, fixing, optimizing, and scaling ecommerce businesses across different industries, markets, and technologies.
21+ Years in Ecommerce
I've spent more than 21 years working in ecommerce as a developer, consultant, software architect, entrepreneur, and product builder.
During that time, I've worked with businesses ranging from startups launching their first store to established brands generating millions in annual revenue across the US and European markets.
I've seen projects succeed because they focused on fundamentals, and I've seen projects struggle because of poor technical decisions that created unnecessary complexity.
Over the years I've reviewed, rebuilt, optimized, and maintained countless ecommerce systems, integrations, themes, applications, and workflows.
That experience has provided a unique perspective on what actually works in ecommerce and what doesn't.
Technology changes quickly. The principles behind building successful businesses do not.
Our Mission
The future of commerce will be shaped by better software, automation, AI, and systems that allow businesses to operate more efficiently.
HowCommerce exists to explore, document, and help understand that future.
Today we cover topics including ecommerce platforms, Shopify, AI, automation, software architecture, customer experience, and the operational side of running modern commerce businesses.
As the industry evolves, so will the topics we explore.
The mission remains the same: to help merchants, developers, founders, and operators make better decisions by sharing practical knowledge backed by real-world experience.
If you're passionate about ecommerce, technology, and the future of commerce, you're in the right place.
Why This Site Is Different
HowCommerce is not written from the sidelines.
The articles published here are shaped by real-world experience building ecommerce systems, solving technical problems, implementing AI-powered automation, and working directly with merchants and commerce businesses.
Many of the topics covered on this site come from challenges encountered in actual projects, software being built today, and technologies actively being tested and implemented.
The focus is practical knowledge that can be applied in the real world, not theory disconnected from day-to-day operations.
